The Westport girls softball team crushed Bishop Connolly 17-5 in 5 innings in a home game on Monday afternoon. The Wildcats bats came alive as they won their first game of the season to improve to a 1-7 record in league play.

“The girls did a tremendous job and they never gave up,” said Head Coach Monique Jones.

Jordan Theriault led the offensive assault with three hits, a triple and 4 RBI. Abbey Macedo had three hits, a double and 3 RBI. Arianna Dos Vais also had three hits, a double and 3 RBI.

Eighth grader Arianna Dos Vais a catcher turned pitcher, compiled eight strikeouts in the victory.

“Cheyenne Smeaton was a defensive standout at third base making several nice plays,” said coach Jones. “I am extremely proud of the girls on and off the field.”
