Westport police: Busy week for animal complaints

Monday, Feb. 5

Police investigated after a caller from Main Road reported a suspicious vehicle just after 7 a.m.

A Bond Street caller lodged animal complaints via 911 at 7:27 a.m. A similar complaint came in from Banner Avenue at 12:01 p.m. and Jillian Way at 12:23 p.m.

Police tried but were unable to serve a restraining order on Highland Avenue at 3:27 p.m. They had more luck after returning at 6:24 p.m.

A 911 caller reported property damage on Benoit Street at 3:34 p.m.

A Grand Pine Way resident complained of identity fraud at 4:14 p.m.

A caller from Sanford Road reported a suspicious car at 8:07 p.m.

Police pulled over 11 vehicles and issued seven citations over the course of the day.

Tuesday, Feb. 6

A Highland Avenue caller lodged a noise complaint just after 5 a.m.

A caller from Main Road complained of a suspicious person just after 1 p.m.

Police pulled over three vehicles and issued three citations over the course of the day.

Wednesday, Feb. 7

A caller from Route 88 and Old County Road complained of a motor vehicle violation at 2:16 a.m.

Animal complaints came in from State Road at 2:28 a.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident on State Road at 8:33 a.m. Another was called in from State Road at 3:15 p.m., and a third, with injuries, at 11:01 p.m.from Rock O’ Dundee and Smith Neck roads.

A caller from State Road reported an assault at 3:14 p.m.

Police pulled over 13 vehicles and issued six citations over the course of the day.

Thursday, Feb. 8

Police tried but were unable to serve a warrant on Bergeron Lane at 12:42 p.m.

A caller from Rockbridge Road reported a suspicious person at 2:57 p.m.

A caller from Drift Road reported suspicious activity at 4:08 p.m.

Police pulled over one vehicle and issued one citation over the course of the day.

Friday, Feb. 9

A caller from Widgeon Lane reported a suspicious person just after 9 a.m. A similar call came in from River Road at 1:26 p.m.

A caller reported an accident on Main Road at 11:14 p.m.

Police pulled over five vehicles and issued five citations over the course of the day.

Satuday, Feb. 10

A caller from Main Road reported a suspicious car at 2:37 a.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident with injuries on Route 195 at 5:38 a.m.

Animal complaints came in from Main Road at 11:51 a.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on State Road at 11:59 a.m.

A 911 caller reported a fire on Kyle Jacob Road at 2:47 p.m.; it was transferred to the fire department.

A caller reported a motor vehicle violation on Route 88 at 6:58 p.m.

A caller from Lenox Avenue complained of an unwanted person at 11:38 p.m.

Police were called to a disturbance on State Road at 11:57 p.m.

Police pulled over nine vehicles and issued six citations over the course of the day.

Sunday, Feb. 11

Animal complaints came in from Highland Road at 4:30 a.m., from Drift Road at 10:23 a.m., from Atlantic Avenue at 1 p.m. and from Drift Road at 5:06 p.m.

A caller from Tickle Road reported a missing person at 7:32 a.m.

A caller reported a suspicious person on village Way at 3:47 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on East Briggs Road at 5:25 p.m.

A caller from Jordans Way reported a suspicious car at 8:18 p.m., but police deemed the report unfounded.

Police pulled over three vehicles and issued one citation over the course of the day.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
