It was bombs away for the Westport basketball team as they sank Thirteen 3-pointers to beat Bishop Connolly 78-73 in Fall River on Friday night. The Wildcats went 3-0 away from Westport this week, besting Bishop Stang 64-57 on Monday and crushing Avon 77-48 on Wednesday to improve their record to 13-6.

Senior guard Hunter Brodeur knocked down three 3-pointers and led the team in scoring with 22 points. The Wildcats began the night red hot. Cam Leary, Max Morotti and Coltrane each drained a 3-pointer as Westport took a 9-0 lead. The Wildcats led 20-9 after the first quarter, 41-26 at halftime and 58-48 after three quarters.

Owen Boudria scored 15 points with two 3-pointers. Morotti netted 13 points with a 3-pointer, McGonigle scored 12 points with two 3-pointers, Leary scored 11 points with three 3’s, Anthony Raposa netted a 3-pointer and Ben Boudria who played sparingly while nursing injuries, added a fourth quarter bucket.

Westport will travel to East Bridgewater for their last game of the season on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. They are currently ranked fifth in Division 5 and will likely host a playoff game on Friday, March 3.
