Do you know how many liquor licenses there are in Barrington?
Do you know how a business goes about getting a liquor license in Barrington? That question surfaced during the recent Barrington Town Council meeting, as officials introduced an ordinance that would increase the total number of licenses, in an effort to accommodate for a potential request from the newly-opened Plant City restaurant.
Councilor Kate Berard asked the town manager when the number of liquor licenses was last adjusted. Phil Hervey said the town’s approach is to add a license as they receive a new license request.
Should the ordinance be approved at the Council’s next meeting, Barrington would increase its total number of Class BV Full licenses to seven.
By the way, of the Council approves the new license for Plant City, that would bring the total number of liquor licenses in Barrington to 18. About 10 years ago, Barrington had only four liquor licenses — each was held by a private club.
