Arts Alive! is excited to announce that Hampden Meadows, Nayatt and Primrose Hill school students will bring "Disney's Aladdin Jr" to life.

"Disney's Aladdin Jr" is based on the 1992 Academy Award-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within.

“The story you know and love has been given the royal treatment!” stated a press release from Arts Alive. “Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character. With expanded characters, new songs, and more thrills, this new adaptation of the beloved story will open up ‘a whole new world’ for your young performers!”

All shows are at Barrington High School. Tickets are general admission and cost $10. Tickets will be available online at artsaliveri.org as well as at the door (cash and Venmo) before each performance. Show times are: Saturday, May 31 at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
