Eagles go undefeated in dual meet season

Three Barrington High School student-athletes won individual events at the Classical Classic Track and Field meet at Conley Stadium in Providence last weekend. 

Helena Hyde cleared the bar at five feet and won the high jump, while Ellie Noonan finished first in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet, and Kate Pearse won the 400-meter race with a time of 59.26 seconds. 

The Eagles’ 4x100-meter relay team — Roxana Mohammadi, Emma Pearse, Charlie Dimery and Kate Pearse — finished in fourth place. Kate Pearse also finished fifth in the 200-meter race with a time of 26.96. 

Ivy Di Lorenzo finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, 5 inches, and Ava Morrissette was seventh in the same event. Morrissette finished sixth in the long jump. 

Scarlet Wasinowicz finished sixth in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 11:26.83, and Dimery was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles. 

Kitty Wang finished seventh in the discus, Indie Lamb was eighth in the 800-meter race, and Sara Chang was 11th in the 1,500-meter race. 

Dual meet

The Eagles concluded the dual meet season with wins over Shea (150-0), Tiverton (139-11), and Tolman (144-6).

More than two dozen Barrington High School student-athletes had personal best performances. Dimery won the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles, while Morrissette won the 400-meter race and triple jump. 

Kate Pearse won the 100-meter race, 200-meter race and anchored the Eagles’ 4x100-meter relay team, which cruised to victory. 

Wang won the shot put and discus, and Evelyn Lefort won the 1,500-meter race. Caroline Reznik was tops in the 800-meter race, and Chang won the 3,000. 

Other winners include Hyde in the high jump, Noonan in the pole vault, Catie Wilbur in the javelin, and Natalie Antonio in the hammer.
