Barrington girls win division championship in track

Eagles score points in 17 of the 19 events

The Barrington High School girls track team won the Eastern Division Championship held at Portsmouth High School on Saturday.

Barrington scored 159 points, finishing ahead of second place Portsmouth (126 points), and third place St. Raphael Academy (64 points). 

The Eagles scored points in all but two of the 19 events during the meet. And according to BHS Coach Ed Roskiewicz, Barrington had 21 different athletes score points. 

Barrington’s Indie Lamb, Sara Chang, Anna Garofano and Caroline Reznik won the 4x800-meter relay race. Sarah Yee won the 200-meter race, Kyle Keough won the 800-meter race, and Grace Saal was tops in the 100-meter hurdles. Lily Cregan won the hammer throw and Eva Garofano won the discus. Frannie Johnson won the pole vault and Sophia Ford finished in first place in the long jump.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
