Barrington High School JV volleyball team wins state title, too

Eagles finish the season with a record of 16-4-2

It was a clean sweep for the Barrington High School girls volleyball program. 

While the BHS varsity team won the Division II State Championship, the BHS JV volleyball team also won the state title. The Eagles JV team went 16-4-2, and was undefeated in games against Division II competition. 

The JV roster includes 16 players: Heidi Muehlbauer, Anna Muehlbauer, Charlie Dimery, Sophie Bae, Arya Rahman, Tessa Lapinski, Catherine Hazlett, Soo Yeon Park, Rose Rakeman, Skyler Roloff, Emily Peluso, CC Farrell, Riley Fogarty, Naima Basse, Lane Coskun, Indira Malik, Vera Magaji, Iana Zhuravleva, Caroline Hanratty, and Teagan Willard. 

Christian Lambert coaches the team with  "Sou" Soumangue Basse. 

In addition to the varsity and JV titles, the BHS unified volleyball team also won a state championship this season.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
