The Barrington High School boys indoor track team broke away to a quick start.

The Eagles raced to a second place finish at the Injury Fund Relay meet, held Saturday, Dec. 7, at Providence Career and Technical Academy. Barrington scored 69 team points, finishing just behind first-place Hendricken, which scored 75 points, and well-ahead of third-place Classical, which tallied 36 points.

Patrick Trainor and the BHS long jump relay team led the way for Barrington High School, finishing as meet champions with a total distance of 59 feet, 0.25 inches.

In addition, Trainor set a new BHS record in the long jump with a distance of 22 feet, 5.25 inches. The previous record of 21 feet, 8 inches was held by both Will Sanchez and Chucky Potter. Barrington Coach Bill Barrass noted that he could not recall the last time a BHS student-athlete opened the season by setting a new school record.

“Big congratulations to Patrick Trainor!!!” Barrass wrote in an email to the team.

Barrington celebrated three other meet champions as well.

Levon He, Charly Potter, Henry Stockwell and Shea Parish teamed up to win the sprint medley relay with a time of 3:44.03.

Michael Chun, Fritz Müehlbauer, Daniel Chun and Brooks Mello won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:22.93. And Will DiGiacomo, Grady Hazlett, Marius Bonard and Stockwell partnered to win the 4x400-meter relay, crossing the finish line with a time of 3:35.16.

Bobby Wind, Jared Lesk, Hazlett and Onson Tieu finished second in the shuttle hurdles, while Colby Napolitano, Müehlbauer, Brady Andrew, and Connor Curran ran to a second-place finish in the distance medley relay.

Levi Robbins, Garrett McManaman and Aidan Chopin finished third in the shot put with a combined distance of 116 feet.
