JPMorgan Chase announced recently the opening of its first retail branch in Barrington located at 280 County Road. The branch is the ninth to open in Rhode Island since Chase opened its first location in Providence in August 2019. 

“Barrington is a community with a rich history and this branch will serve as an economic hub for our neighbors,” said Bobby Pelland, Chase Branch Manager for Barrington. “We look forward to building new relationships and helping our customers during life’s most important moments, like opening their first savings account, buying their first home, planning for retirement, and more.”

Customers will discover a branch that looks and feels different from a “typical” bank – it combines a modern design, layout, and state-of-the-art banking technology, reflecting how customers engage with Chase today. Employees will welcome customers in casual meeting spaces, emphasizing a more consultative approach, and offer self-service transaction areas including a digital access bar, smart ATMs, and free WiFi. 

Chase’s expansion in Rhode Island adds retail and business banking to the state where the firm serves nearly 185,000 customers and almost 10,000 business clients. 

“We believe it’s important to meet our customers where they live, work, play and most importantly – bank,” said Jennifer Campbell, Chase Market Director in Rhode Island. “The timing felt right to grow our presence in Rhode Island.”

The Barrington branch is part of the bank’s expansion plans to bring 10 new branches to Rhode Island by 2022. With branches in Providence, Cranston and Warwick, among other cities and towns, Chase is on track to hire around 100 employees from these communities.  

Chase is hiring staff locally to support its new branches, including bankers, branch managers, business bankers and financial advisors.

As part of their commitment to the community, branch Culture Champion Lorie Dicolo recently organized a food drive for Saint Mary's of the Bay Food Pantry in Warren. Along with food collected, the branch team also donated turkeys for families served by Saint Mary’s of the Bay for the Thanksgiving holiday.
