Ben Parylak, Peyton Hillier and Dylan Edwards each scored two goals and Nick Spaight tallied three assists as the Barrington High School boys lacrosse team defeated North Kingstown 9-8 on Monday night, May 12.
Barrington improved to 6-5.
Parylak opened the scoring in the first minute with a behind-the-back finish in the crease off a nice feed from Spaight. The Eagles played efficiently and created some turnovers and loose ball opportunities in the first quarter. Barrington jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but the Skippers cut into the score and narrowed the Eagles’ lead to 8-5 heading into halftime.
The third quarter was a defensive battle with Barrington scoring the only goal. North Kingstown went on a run in the fourth quarter, helped by some Barrington penalties. The Skippers trailed 9-8 with two minutes left, but Barrington’s defense tightened up and the Eagles held on for the win.
Max Parylak and Patrick McNamara and Spaight each scored goals in the victory.
Barrington dropped a 15-4 decision to Duxbury (Mass.) on Friday, May 9. Duxbury won 85 percent of the face-offs and controlled possession for most of the game. The Eagles trailed 6-0 after the first quarter and 8-2 at halftime. McNamara finished the game as Barrington’s leading scorer with three goals, while Hillier had a single goal.
On Wednesday, May 7, Barrington defeated Hendricken 15-14. The Eagles and Hawks traded goals for most of the first half, and Barrington led 10-8 at the break. Barrington was up 11-9 after the third quarter and pushed its advantage to three goals before the Hawks made a late charge, narrowing the lead to one goal.
McNamara had his best scoring night of the season, finishing with five goals and two assists. Ben Parylak had four assists and one goal, and Gavin Munzert got his first win in net with nine saves.
Barrington will host Pilgrim on Thursday and South Kingstown next Monday.
