Barrington High School Stagemasters will present its first full-length play since 2020, when "Sleepy Hollow: Ichabod and the Headless Horseman” takes the stage this weekend.

The Barrington High School Stagemasters drama club returned to the stage in the fall of 2021 with a musical review, and this weekend will share "Sleepy Hollow: Ichabod and the Headless Horseman.” Showtimes are Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21 at 7 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m.

Students have been in rehearsals since the end of March preparing for the full-length play that explores the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and puts a twist on Washington Irving's original Colonial era story. 

Set after the revolutionary war in the town of Sleepy Hollow, the play follows mild-mannered school teacher, Ichabod Crane (played by BHS junior Max Bleakney), as he navigates his forbidden love for Katrina Van Tassel (played by BHS senior Isabel Denise), his nemesis, Brom Bones (played by Aiden Pilipski), and the ghosts of Sleepy Hollow.  

The production makes use of lighting and other ghostly special effects to create the haunted world of Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman.  

Senior Stagemasters members Max DeRosa, Grace Zwolinski, Elizabeth Rosato and Madelyn Glass also bring their talent to the stage in a show that promises humor and suspense. 

Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults and will be sold at the door.
