In last game ever at Victory Field, Barrington comes up short

Barrington boys lacrosse team loses to Hendricken

Posted

The Barrington High School boys lacrosse team was hoping to send Victory Field out a winner, but Hendricken had other plans.

The Eagles, playing in the final game at Victory Field before crews rebuild the track and replace the natural grass surface with artificial turf, lost 11-10 against Bishop Hendricken. The quarterfinal playoff loss ended the Eagles’ season.

Work on the Victory Field athletic complex started a few weeks ago and will kick into high gear following the Barrington High School commencement service on Sunday, June 8.

The BHS boys lacrosse team defeated Hendricken twice during the regular season, but was missing a few players for the playoff matchup due to injuries. The Eagles opened the game strong and built a 3-0 lead. Hendricken rallied and scored five straight goals. The two teams were tied 5-5 at halftime, but by the start of the fourth quarter, the Eagles trailed 10-6.

Barrington refused to quit and battled back to tie the game at 10-10, but with time running out the Hawks scored and the Eagles were unable to net the equalizer.

Patrick McNamara led the Eagles with five goals and one assist, while Nick Spaight scored two goals and assisted on two others. Ben Parylak had a goal and two assists, and Peyton Hillier finished with a goal and an assist. Onson Tieu scored a goal and won 71 percent of the face-offs in the game.
