Letter: Good thinking all around in Barrington

To the editor:

I am delighted to read that the DEM grant will be used at the Harold Gibbs Woods property! Of course, my emotions are swayed a bit since Harold was my grandfather! Thank you Steve Boyajian, for your role in securing the property.

There are many acres of woodland and wooded swamp to explore on that water front to the Palmer River, and now the is a convenient way to get there, as well as to park - even a cross walk from Sowams School! I does make a nice extension of the Hampden Meadows Greenbelt, too. Good thinking all around! In past years I spent many hours slogging through that territory, so a trail system would open up the views of the river, the Ospreys, Bald Eagles and many other kinds of plant and animal wildlife there. I have seen on occasion Spotted Turtles traveling through!

It is gratifying to see the town work together with the Land Trust and the state to accomplish such worthwhile projects! I may live in Connecticut now, but will always retain my interest and enthusiasm for Barrington’s forward thinking!

Sincerely,

Charlotte Sornborger
