Are you 12 years old or older? Wonder about all those boats rowing up and down the Barrington River? Want to join an group of teenagers who work hard?

“East Bay Rowing welcomes rowers from all over the East Bay,” said Kelsey Gosch, director of East Bay Rowing. “It’s a lot of fun and provides a great community. Even if you’ve never rowed, come check us out!”

East Bay Rowing has programs for all levels, from new to the sport to those interested in competing at regional and national levels. Play other sports? Rowing is also used as a way to maintain conditioning while being outdoors with friends.

People can learn more about East Bay Rowing at a special open house on Saturday, March 15, between 9 a.m. to noon, at EBR’s indoor training facility at 84 Cutler Street, Unit 16 in Warren. People can talk to current rowers, see some of the equipment and even jump on an erg.

East Bay Rowing is also offering spring programs and summer camps. People can register at eastbayrowing.org or contact Kelsey Gosch, director of rowing at dor@eastbayrowing.com with questions.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
