Barrington Police responded to the intersection of County Road and Mathewson Road for an accident on Saturday, Oct. 23  — a vehicle struck a bicyclist.

Police said the bicyclist was attempting to cross County Road in the marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle. The bicyclist suffered a laceration to his wrist, police said. It appeared that the bicyclist was attempting to ride his bike through the crosswalk.

Police spoke with the motorist, a Warren resident, who said he had no time to react as the bicyclist rolled into traffic. Police said there are not charges against the motorist.

There is currently a construction project taking place at the bridge, as the Rhode Island Department of Transportation makes improvements to the detour for the closed bike path bridges. Residents and town officials have voiced concerns about the dangers facing pedestrians and bicyclists in and around the construction area.
