Barrington Police responded to three accidents involving bicyclists struck by vehicles last week.

On Monday afternoon, Oct. 21, Barrington Police received a 911 call for an accident that occurred at the intersection of Federal Road and County Road. Police said a student was walking their bike across the street when a pickup truck struck the bike’s tire. The student narrowly avoided being struck by the truck also, police said.

According to the police report, the motorist pulled to the side of the road and later offered to give the student a ride home, as the bike’s tire was damaged.

Less than a day later, on Tuesday morning, Oct. 22, a vehicle struck a student who was riding their bike to the middle school. Police said the accident occurred near the intersection of Upland Way and Federal Road, less than a quarter mile from the Barrington Public Safety Building. Police cruisers, fire trucks and ambulances quickly responded to the scene. Police said the student refused medical treatment.

On Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26, a bicyclist was pedaling down County Road near the entrance to the Barrington Shopping Center when they were struck by a RIPTA bus. Police said it was a minor accident, as the bus grazed the bicyclist.
