Police respond to separate incidents related to Election Day

Posted

On Election Day, Barrington Police arrested Jared D. Remson, 27, of Pawtucket, on two warrants from a district court.

Police responded to Nayatt School, which was being used as a polling location, for a report of a man standing outside the school yelling his support for Kamala Harris.

Police later located Remson walking on Rumstick Road. Police checked Remson's ID and discovered the active warrants. The warrants were issued for failure to appear in court on a simple assault and/or battery charge, and domestic violence-vandalism charge.

Voter ID scan

A town employee approached police on Election Day after a poll worker scanned a voter’s ID and it allegedly came back as invalid. Police checked the area for the woman, but could not find her. The poll workers later told police that there had been a glitch in the computer system used to check the woman’s ID. A subsequent check of the ID showed she is a Barrington resident.

Exit polling?

On Monday, a Barrington resident told police a Department of Public Works employee approached her outside the town hall, asked her if she was leaving the area because they planned to blow leaves out of the playground and then asked who she voted for. The resident said the DPW employee asked if she voted for Trump. The resident told police the DPW employee was not threatening in any way but made her feel uncomfortable.
