Scholarship awards night returning to Barrington, set for May 27
Also, new scholarship honors 1983 BHS graduate
The annual awards night for the Community Scholarship Fund of Barrington will return this year.
Last year’s event was canceled due a delay in the federal student aid process. This year’s event will be held at Barrington Middle School on Tuesday night, May 27, at 6:30 p.m.
“We’re very pleased to be able to host this year’s ceremony and it wouldn’t be the same without the amazing individuals who share the legacies and make our Awards Night so memorable,” stated a message from the CSF board.
The Community Scholarship Fund of Barrington first awarded money for students to attend college in 1959, and that baton has been passed to many supporters of the fund since.
The board has made some exciting updates to CSF: The organization moved to an on-line application platform, and a new scholarship has been created. The new named scholarship was created for Peter Wilk, a 1983 Barrington High School graduate who recently passed from glioblastoma.
The Community Scholarship Fund of Barrington enlisted an outside professional journalist to assist with creating a portfolio of video interviews of many presenters associated with each scholarship to ensure the stories are kept alive for the future.
