After responding to a downtown residence for a 911 call, Bristol police officers arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly firing a gun inside the home at a previous time.
The arrest followed a 911 call at 12:32 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24. According a report from probationary patrol officer Ziad Abdallah, the officer approached the residence at the same time as paramedics and Bristol Rescue, which had also been dispatched to the scene. Together, they found Brian Malafronte, resident of 66 Monroe Ave., lying on a deck outside the front of the house.
Upon entering the residence, two officers immediately noticed that the living room and kitchen were in disarray. While walking through the house, they found significant damage to a bedroom door, with had three, medium-sized round holes.
“The holes appeared to be consistent with a discharge of shotgun ammunition,” the officer wrote in his report.
After that discovery, officers searched Mr. Malafronte for weapons but did not find any on his person.
Continuing their search, officers found an unused “Xpert High-Velocity Steel Shot” .20-gauge buckshot shell casing on the kitchen counter. In the bathroom area, officers observed small, scattered holes that appeared to come from “a birdshot shotgun blast” on the bathroom door. The splintering of the wood indicated that the shots came from the bedroom.
Back in the bedroom, also in disarray with multiple items out of place, officers also found a .20-gauge shotgun lying on the bed. At 1:17 a.m., Malafronte was placed into custody while on a stretcher. No other people were in the house and no witnesses reported hearing gunfire.
Malafronte was charged with one count of disorderly conduct and one count of firing in a compact area.
Officers determined that the gunshot damages inside the house did not occur near the time they were called to the home for the unrelated 911 call.
