Bristol native to present at author showcase at Borealis Coffee

The Association of Rhode Island Authors (ARIA) announced recently they had reached an agreement with Borealis Coffee Company of Bristol to host a series of public events highlighting the works of published authors from throughout the state of Rhode Island.

The inaugural event, occurring on Thursday, March 28 from 7 to 9 p.m., will feature presentations by three authors, readings, an opportunity for question and answers, and signed copies of books by local authors will be available for purchase.

Authors at the event will include:

Joanne Perella with her debut novel, “Vanishing Act”, the compelling story of an 82-year-old woman trapped in a shabby assisted living facility who, with the help of an old friend, escapes to reclaim her lost independence. “This captivating debut novel is an essential read for those seeking a blend of humor, optimism, and a renewed perspective on the aging process,” reviews Editors Weekly, who gave the book five stars. Perella was born in South Boston but has lived in Rhode Island since childhood.

Liz Sauco, of Rhode Island, double majored in history and classics at URI, with a minor in Asian Studies. Sauco has two fantasy titles to her “Blades of the Goddess” series; “Lost Blades” and “Broken Blades”, which takes the reader into an ancient world where thievery, murder, and a struggle for power foment rebellion.

Mike Squatrito, a Bristol native, offers a male perspective to the fantasy genre with his “Overlord” series. It is a complete, four-book saga written to be entertaining for both adult and young-adult audiences. The engrossing tale combines elements of storytelling that recall “Star Wars” and “Harry Potter.” He will also be talking about his new book, “Love Winning”, his memoir about being a knuckleball pitcher. Mike is currently the president of ARIA and a senior systems engineer for Raytheon.

The event is free and open to the public. Borealis offers coffee, food items and alcoholic beverages for purchase. The event will provide audience-style seating for 40-50 people, and additional seating is available.
