Bristol PD made two arrests and fielded multiple calls regarding cows that had gotten loose between Aug. 12 and Aug. 25, 2024.

Bristol PD: Loose cattle and two arrests

Editor’s note: Due to an issue receiving the logs last week, we are publishing two weeks of incident reports for this edition.

Monday, Aug. 12

Police responded to Wapping Drive at 8:43 p.m. after receiving a report of people lighting off firecrackers. They advised them to stop.

Vandalism was reported on Anthony Avenue at 9:50 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 13

Fraud was reported on Tobin Lane at 1:31 p.m.

Police responded to Bay Street at 10:19 p.m. following a report two men were yelling in the road.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

Police received a report a man was stopping cars near High and Hope Streets around 9:26 a.m. asking for money. He was gone when they arrived.

Fraud was reported on Church Cove Road at 3:43 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 15

Police received a report at 12:23 p.m. that a tree at the Bristol Golf Club on Tupelo Street was reportedly vandalized with graffiti over the prior weekend.

Vandalism was reported on Sea Breeze Lane at 3:55 p.m.

James R. Sabourin, 62, of 23 Seneca St., Warwick, was arrested at 7:14 p.m. on Metacom Avenue following a motor vehicle stop. He was charged with DUI of liquor or drugs (BAC unknown, second offense), and refusal to submit to a chemical test (second offense).

Friday, Aug. 16

Police looked for two vehicles possibly racing down Metacom Avenue near the Warren Town Line at 12:11 a.m. Warren PD were notified but no vehicles were found.

Loose cattle were reported at Usher’s Farm on Metacom Avenue at 2:17 a.m. The owners were contacted and responded to wrangle the animals back to their home.

An injured deer was reported near Metacom and Griswold Avenues at 4:22 p.m.

A St. Louis Avenue resident reported at 7:47 p.m. that their neighbor’s children were continuously trespassing on their property.

A fire apparatus was dispatched to an area near Poppasquash Road and Hope Street at 11:21 p.m. to investigate an unknown odor.

Saturday, Aug. 17

A marine rescue was called for near Point Pleasant Inn on Poppasquash Road at 12:30 p.m. for a 16-year-old female who was reported missing. The search was later called off.

Loose cattle from Raposa Farm near Metacom Avenue and Narrows Road were reported at 9:33 p.m. The animal was safely escorted home.

Sunday, Aug. 18

A needle was discovered by a Beach Road resident on their front lawn at 11:02 a.m.

Shoplifting was reported at CVS on Metacom Avenue at 6:54 p.m.

Multiple units responded to a propane tank explosion on Hydraulion Avenue at 7:38 p.m., which resulted in a deck being lit on fire.

Monday, Aug. 19

The animal control officer was called to assist with a sick skunk reported on Jennifer Drive at 8:07 a.m.

An accident involving a car versus a bicyclist was reported near Gooding Avenue and Broadcommon Road at 4:22 p.m. The cyclist refused a request to evaluate them.

Tuesday, Aug. 20

Police spoke to landscapers working on Bay View Avenue at 6:19 a.m. following a noise complaint.

Police received a report of a possible skimming device being used on a Bank of America ATM on Metacom Avenue at 12:03 p.m., but upon their inspection they found no such device in use.

Police spoke to a guardian about three juveniles reportedly riding tricycles in the road on Bourne Street at 5:50 p.m. after receiving a complaint.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

Police spoke to the father of two small children on King Philip Avenue at 11:44 a.m. following a complaint that they were swimming alone with no parent present. The father explained he was keeping on eye on them, and the kids were located on the shoreline when police arrived.

Thursday, Aug. 22

A manager of a business on Wood Street requested a no trespass order at 1:10 p.m. for an employee who was about to be fired.

Police looked for juveniles reportedly riding dirt bikes in the road near Sherman and St. Anna Avenues at 1:49 p.m. but they didn’t locate anyone there.

Friday, Aug. 23

Authorities assisted an injured rabbit on Prospect Street at 8:20 a.m.

Vandalism was reported at Vet’s Park on Wood Street at 8:29 a.m.

A credit card was reportedly stolen from an address on Collins Street at 9:28 a.m.

A homeowner on Constitution Street was advised at 2:57 p.m. following a Tip 411 regarding yard waste.

Michael E. Brum, 54, of 118 Church St., Apt. #2, Bristol, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. following a report of an assault. He was charged with domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, first offense). He was later transported to the ACI.

Saturday, Aug. 24

Heather Martin, 51, of 39 Everett St., Bristol, was arrested at 12:23 a.m. following a report of a domestic disturbance. She was charged with one count of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, second offense). She was arraigned and later released.

Damage to a vehicle was reported at Colt State Park at 3:04 p.m.

Police looked for juveniles on Kickemuit Avenue at 9:47 p.m. who were reportedly ringing doorbells, but didn’t find them.

Police advised the owner of Nest Bar & Grill to quiet down their music at 11:09 p.m. after receiving a noise complaint.

Sunday, Aug. 25

Rhode Island Energy was contacted after a loud explosion was reported on Hope Street at 10:12 a.m., resulting in a loss of power on Hope Street south of Mulberry Road.

Police broke up a verbal argument between a man and a woman at CVS on Metacom Avenue at 2:05 p.m. and sent them on their separate ways.

Monday, Aug. 26

Loose cattle were reported from Usher’s Farm on Metacom Avenue at 1:43 a.m.

Two vehicles were dispersed from Mt. Hope High School at 2:30 a.m. after a call for suspicious activity was made.

A deer reportedly had to be euthanized at 6:13 a.m. following a report that one had been seen injured on the southbound lane of Metacom Avenue near Mt. Hope Farm. DEM was notified.
