Bristol Police: Fireworks, child porn, assault and more fireworks

The holiday weekend brought an uptick in complaints about fireworks and noisy neighbors throughout Bristol.

Monday, June 28

An officer took a report of a neighbor dispute on King Philip Avenue at 9:56 a.m.

An officer took a report of a road rage incident at the corner of Hope Street and Asylum Road at 10:39 a.m.

Cynthia A. Sousa, 46, of 29 Roosevelt Drive, Bristol, was taken into custody and charged with domestic simple assault. She was taken to District Court in Providence.

Someone complained about a man not cleaning up after his dog in St. Mary’s Cemetery at 2:04 p.m.

After responding to a disturbance outside along Hope Street at 9:22 p.m., officers arrested Patrick D. Spirk, 25, of 906 Hope St., Bristol. He was taken to the station and put into a holding cell. While in custody, he allegedly removed his clothes multiple times, climbed the cell block walls and dumped toilet water all over the floor of the cell and hallways with his hands. He was charged with domestic simple assault, domestic disorderly conduct, felony assault with a dangerous weapon or substance, and domestic assault by strangulation. He was brought to District Court for arraignment.

Tuesday, June 29

A skunk was euthanized at the corner of Chestnut Street and Jane Lane at 8:14 a.m.

An officer stayed with a lost child on the Town Common at 9:30 p.m. until the child was reunited with the mother.

Wednesday, June 30

An officer spoke to four people who were in the infinity pool at the Stone Harbour condos at 2:36 a.m.

An officer removed a dog from a truck on St. Elizabeth Street at 3:12 p.m.

Officers assisted but made no arrests after a woman called saying that a man was attempting to assault her while she was parked near Rogers Free Library at 9:27 p.m. They determined it was a verbal argument only.

Thursday, July 1

John L. Truver, 39, of 1103 Hope St., Bristol was charged with possession of child pornography at 7:34 p.m.

Officer removed a patron from Portside Tavern at 8:06 p.m. and issued a no-trespass order.

Friday, July 2

An officer called rescue to the scene to assist and intoxicated male lying in a front lawn along Hope Street at 12:30 p.m. The man was taken to St. Anne’s Hospital.

An officer took a report of a neighbor complaint on Constitution Street at 3:36 p.m.

There were fireworks complaints from Woodlawn Avenue and Rockwell School at 8 and 9 p.m., respectively.

Saturday, July 3

An officer dispersed two men from the Court and Hope streets at 12:33 a.m.

Loud music was reported on John Street at 12:38 a.m.

An Ericsson Lane resident reported harassment at 5:50 p.m.

Paul J. Perry, 33, of 15 Alma Ave., Bristol, was charged with a District Court warrant.

Between 8 and 11 p.m., police received fireworks complaints from Peckham Drive, First Street, Clifton Road, Wall Street, Gooding Avenue, Tilbury Drive,

Sowams Drive, Lang Avenue and River Street.

An officer spoke to residents on Woodlawn Avenue after a complaint about a loud party at 10:27 p.m.

Sunday, July 4

Officers spoke to large groups of loud people along Court Street and at the intersection of Hope and State streets at 12:49 a.m. They went back to Court Street at 1:27 a.m.

Officers dispersed people from Constitution Street at 1:43 a.m.

Someone was dispersed from Jane Lane as part of a landlord-tenant dispute at 12:54 p.m.

Someone was dispersed from Alma Avenue as part of a property dispute at 2:38 p.m.

Multiple people were dispersed from Mt. Hope Avenue, where there was a large gathering and fireworks at 3:57 p.m.

Someone reported fireworks on Platt Street at 4:58 p.m.

An officer spoke to someone about loud music on Goulart Avenue at 7:05 p.m.

Someone complained of loud music on Mt. Hope Avenue at 7:22 p.m.

From 8:50 to midnight, police received complaints about fireworks from Francesca Lane, Platt Street, Fried Avenue, Sowams Drive, Wall Street, Evelyn Drive, Alves Street, Fernwood Road, Etelvina Court, Hope Street, Oliver Street, Duffield Road, Thompson Avenue, Tower Street, Goulart Avenue, Fernwood Road and Metacom Avenue.

After an incident at the corner of Hope and State streets at 10:22 p.m., officers arrested Dominic J. Alves, 23, of East Providence. He was charged with two counts of simple assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing an officer and a District Court warrant. He was processed at the station and then taken to the ACI.

Someone complained of loud music from Fernwood Road at 11:39 p.m.

Monday, July 5

There were complaints about noise from either fireworks, parties or loud people between midnight and 3:20 a.m. from St. Elizabeth Street, Fox Hill Avenue, Independence Park, Wood Street, Richmond Street, State Street, Second Street and the Little League field off Wood Street. A woman was also out yelling at a passing car on State Street that was throwing fireworks from the vehicle while driving.
