Letter: Food Pantry thanks community for ongoing support

Posted

The East Bay Food Pantry and Thrift Shop (EBFP) would like to thank the many individuals, businesses, and organizations in our community who are continuing to support those in need during this difficult time. It has been heartwarming to see how people in our community have come together to care for one another, and we are grateful for the outpouring of support EBFP has received.

This support has allowed us to both continue our existing food programs, and to adapt to the evolving needs that have arisen. As vulnerable residents have become even more isolated, we have increased our grocery deliveries to the disabled and homebound (including quarantined) by about 80 percent.

During this year when many students have been learning remotely, we have provided supplementary breakfast, lunch, and snack foods to kids each week to make sure they have the nutritious foods they need. With the weather improving, we will soon be opening our outdoor Food Pantry and Food4Kids programs. And, we have recently added the ability for those in need of help to order online from our Food Pantry so they can choose their food in advance for rapid, no contact pick-up. (Online ordering is available at eastbayfoodpantry.org/order-food.)

Those who want more information about our current programs and schedules can check out the Covid-19 Update at eastbayfoodpantry.org or call us at 401-396-9490.

It wouldn’t have been possible for us to maintain and expand our food programs without the generosity of many donors and volunteers who have stepped in to help. We would especially like to thank all those who donated to our recent 401 Gives campaign and to the members of Bristol Rotary who have been reaching out personally to their friends and colleagues to raise funds on our behalf.

We are grateful to the many people who are continuing to provide us with financial support, and to those who are supporting our programs by donating food and Thrift Shop items, shopping at our Thrift Shop, and volunteering their time. We wouldn't be here without the support of our community! Thank-you for making our work possible.
