Police identify man struck and killed in Bristol parking lot

Posted

A 59-year-old Bristol man was killed Monday night after he was struck by a small pickup truck and pinned underneath it in the parking lot that wraps around the Pizza Wave restaurant and CVS Pharmacy.

According to Bristol Police, Mark Carroll was walking in the parking lot at the corner of Hopeworth and Metacom avenues at approximately 5:28 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The parking lot is a frequent cut-through for motorists who want to use a stoplight to turn onto the busy Metacom Avenue, rather than  wait for traffic to clear at the top of Hopeworth. The accident occurred at the north end of the parking lot. There is a traffic light at the south end, in front of the CVS and the Bristol Police Station.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
