Two of the most famous and hallowed religious events will take place over the next two weekends at St. Elizabeth’s Church, and as expected, large crowds will be in attendance throughout the course of both celebrations.

The United Brotherhood of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Trinity, (previously known at the Holy Ghost Feast), will take place May 24-26, featuring this year’s “Mordormos,” Carlos and Sonia Medeiros, who already began praying the Rosary in their home at 283 Market St. in Warren earlier this week. The Rosary will continue through Thursday, May 23.

On May 24, 25, and 26, there will be musical entertainment, starting with music by Marc Daniels on Friday, May 24. Then, on Saturday, May 25, the Bodo de Leite procession will start at 5 p.m. from Guiteras School and travel along High Street, Franklin Street, to Wood Street, where it will end at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Musical entertainment that evening will be under the direction of Arlindo Andrade from 7 to 11 p.m. There will be auction of gifts at 8 p.m.

One of the most solemn events will take place on Sunday, May 26, with the procession from Gil’s TV and Appliances on Bay View Avenue at 9. a.m., down Bay View Ave., to the church for the 10:30 a.m. Feast Mass. Traditional Holy Ghost Soup will be served after the Mass.

The Feast resumes at 5 p.m. with Musical entertainment by D.J. Underground, plus other artists and auction of gifts until 10 p.m. The drawing of the Domingas and Mordormo will start at 9 p.m.

As is the case each year, Portuguese and American food will be available all weekend.

The Santo Cristo Feast, which will take place May 31 through June 2, is another of St, Elizabeth Church’s most popular and revered religious events.

It should be noted, according to those in charge, that the Santo Cristo Feast Committee invites any young parishioners and children who are interested in participating in the Santo Cristo Procession on Sunday, June 2, at 3 p.m., to come to the auditorium on Thursday, May 23, from 5-6 p.m., and be fitted for their costume. Please note, there is a shortage of angel outfits so any parishioner or saint costume they would like to use/donate for the Feast Bazaar, are asked to drop off the items at the Church Auditorium.
