Portsmouth man charged with illegal possession of gun
PORTSMOUTH — A 67-year-old local man was arrested last week and charged with illegal possession of firearms as well as violating a domestic protective order.
Police said that at about 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, officers responded to 160 Bristol Ferry Road to investigate a report of a man in possession of a firearm on the property.
Officers made contact with a resident of the home, Christopher Robert Debethune, and established probable cause that a crime had been committed, according to police.
The victim was a 41-year-old woman from Portsmouth, police said.
Sunday, Jan. 22
Matthew Batista, 23, of 25 Goulart St., Apt. 2, Bristol, was charged with driving under the influence, his first offense, after being pulled over on West Main Road at West Passage around 1:35 a.m. Batista was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, according to police.
