Mr. Robert M. “Pepere” Saucier, age 83, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the Hope Hospice – Philip Hulitar Center, Providence, with his wife of 47 years Roberta A. (Manchester) Saucier and his daughter, Beth, at his side.
Born and raised in Fall River, Mass., he was a son of the late Alcide and Estelle (LaPlante) Saucier and a Bristol resident for over 48 years. He was a graduate of Durfee High School, Fall River.
Bob served for eight years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War period and often talked about his experiences at Thule Air Base in Greenland. Following his service, Bob worked for Brown & Sharpe in North Kingstown for almost 40 years until retiring in 2001. He worked part time as a driver for Laidlaw and then First Student Bus Company, enjoying charters to all of the sports events that he could do.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol and an usher there for many years. Bob was also a member of the American Bowling League in Somerset, Mass., the Veterans and Senior Bowling League at Dudek Lanes in Warren with his best friend of over 20 years, Dave Ferri. Bob was also member of the “Fugawees” team of the Hopeworth Bocce League.
He was a proud member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Pepere was a deeply devoted family man, and along with his wife Roberta, treasured the time he spent with his daughter, Beth, and her husband, Mike Goodspeed. No one could have been prouder than Bob of his daughter. His two grandchildren, Gordon and Madeline, were the loves of his life. He is also survived by several cousins. Throughout his life, Bob enjoy spending time with his lovable pets, Belle Belle, Topaz, his faithful companion for 19 years, and Gazzy.
Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Monday, June 7, 2021, at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol.
Visiting hours will be Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grandchildren’s Fund, c/o Roberta Saucier, 126 Berry Lane, Bristol, RI 02809.
