Last week, the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council’s Rhode to Bicycle Safety (R2BS) bike education program came to work with a group of Rockwell School students. The four session program teaches 5th graders how to ride safely, confidently, and predictably, and includes both classroom and bike instruction. Students learned rules of the road, helmet fitting, right of way navigating intersections, and bicycle safety checks.
R2BS works with over 1,300 students every year; they’ve partnered with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation since 2019 to bring this program to 5th grade classrooms throughout the state.
