Steven G. Ferrara, known to those who loved him as “Papa,” 74, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at Miriam Hospital in Providence, surrounded by his family. The son of the late William and Ann (Rich) Ferrara, he grew up in Bristol, residing in Somerset and then Swansea before finally settling back in Bristol in the late ’90s with his wife Lorraine (Martel) Ferrara and family.

Steven was known as a kind and loving man who has left a significant impact on so many. He loved spending time with his loving family, cooking, gardening, playing cards with his friends and watching local Boston sports. Steven volunteered as a firefighter at Swansea Station #2 from 1983 to 1992. He was employed by The Electric Boat Company in Quonset, R.I. for 22 years, later going on to work as a skilled tradesman, leveraging his years of experience as a Welder and Pipe Fitter, until his retirement.

In addition to his loving wife, Lorraine, Steven is survived by his son, Steven Ferrara Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Somerset; a step-son, Brian Martin and his wife Deborah of California; his step-daughter, Rebecca Denson and her husband Robert of Bristol; his brother, William Ferrara and his wife Lillian of Cranston; his sister, Virginia Camara of Bristol; and his five grandchildren, Samantha, Madison, Bradford, Alessandra and Katelyn. He was the brother of the late Priscilla Lunney, formerly of Bristol, and his best pup, Maggie May.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Visitation will be private. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. Warren. A burial will follow at St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Warren.
