Walpurga M. Motta, 89, East Providence

Walpurga M. “Margie” Motta, 89 and of East Providence, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019 at the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Anthony M. Motta. Born in Worms, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Jakob and Anna M. (Olf) Schroder.

Mrs. Motta was an avid bowler and belonged to several different bowling leagues. She was a longtime New England Patriots fan and also had a deep love of music and dance. She was a true animal lover and belonged to the ASPCA and the Humane Society of the United States.

She leaves four children, Michelle R. Motta and her partner Nickolas Tsarhopoulos of West Warwick, Anthony M. Motta, Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Glocester, Gregory H. Motta and his wife Helen of Bristol and Eric C. Motta and his wife Danielle of East Greenwich, one sister, Anny Louis, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mia Schussler, Ruth Schroder, Ernst Schroder, Harry Schroder and Wolfgang Schroder.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov., 2, at 8 a.m. from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours are Friday, Nov.1, from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Rhode Island SPCA, 186 Amaral St., Riverside, RI, 02915 would be appreciated.
