Jean M. McGarry, 86, Rumford

Jean M. McGarry, 86, of Rumford, died on January 30, 2021 at HopeHealth Hospice. Jean was born in Providence, daughter of the late Peter and Winifred (Regan) McGarry.

Jean was a Hope High School graduate and St. Margaret’s parishioner. She worked for the New England Telephone Company, Old Stone Bank, and R.I. Department of Human Services. Jean and her late husband owned the former The Irish Pub in Wickford. She was an active senior at various Senior Centers in R.I. and loved BINGO, playing cards, Mahjong, live theatre, travel and the library.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Gallogly, former husband John Joe Gallogly, siblings Peter McGarry, Winifred (McGarry) Miley, Stephen McGarry, John McGarry and Francis McGarry, Lt RISP (Ret.). She leaves behind her beloved family; sister Lillian (McGarry) Chalmers, twin daughters Erin Gallogly (Nick Tatistcheff) and Sheila Gallogly (Brad Barbour), grandchildren Winifred and Peter Gallogly, and many well-loved nieces & nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be planned for winter 2021 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, East Greenwich.
