John A. “Skip” Kirby Sr., 79, of East Providence, died February 17, 2021 at the Providence VA Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Jennifer A. (Olson) Kirby. Born in New London, Conn., he was a son of the late William B. Kirby Sr. and Ann (Salego) Stevenson.
Skip was employed as a long distance truck driver for many years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children: Kathryn A. Kirby of Pawtucket, Michael A. Kirby and his wife Heather of East Providence, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Kirby of Bristol. He was the father of the late John A. Kirby, Jr. Grandfather of Nicholas Kirby, Christopher Kirby, Rhiannon Kirby, and Addison Kirby. He was the brother of William B. Kirby Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C. and the late E. Ann Morris. He also leaves his faithful companion, his Boston Terrier, Spike.
His funeral service in St. James Lutheran Church will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to the RISPCA or Veterans charity of your choice will be appreciated.
