Letter: Vaccinations are required of all immigrants

Posted

To the editor:
I read in letters to the editors (“What is happening to America's Freedom?” October 28 edition of The East Providence Post) that immigrants do not need to have vaccines when they come to the U.S.

When my husband and I adopted our children, all from China, they had to have vaccines (and it was an extensive list of vaccines too.) They could not enter the country without being vaccinated.

I checked the current CDC guidelines, thinking maybe that policy has changed since we adopted 15+ years ago. I was relieved to see that it has not changed. There is an extensive list of vaccines that all immigrants must have before they are allowed into the U.S.

People held in detention camps are supposed to get vaccinated too (this is done to protect U.S. citizens who may come into contact with detainees.) People can go on the CDC website and see the U.S. government's rules on vaccination regulations.
