EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence Post and eastbayri.com staff photographer Rich Dionne recently ventured to the new East Providence High School to join a tour of the main structure and adjacent athletic complex on Friday, April 23.

The key components of the $189.5 million project are well on their way to completion. The new high school building itself is over 60 percent finished, remaining on time and budget for its scheduled opening later this summer at the start of the 2021-22 term.

The tour took in classrooms, the student commons/cafeteria, the media center, the gymnasium, "black box" theatre, greenhouse, science labs, the numerous Career and Tech Education areas and other spaces being prepared for use by students and staff.

Dionne shot the accompanying gallery of photos.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
