East Providence sprinters cleaned up, taking gold in all of the sprinting events during the Eastern Division track meet at Barrington High School on Saturday May, 17.

Jack Pawlik, Justin Jardine, Nazarae Phillip and both the boys and girls 100-meter relay teams won gold for the Townies.

Pawlik, a sophomore, won gold in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.81 seconds and the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.48 seconds. He also ran a leg with the 4x100-meter relay team of Jardine, Elijah Bento and Julius Cortes, which won gold during the meet with a time of 43.14 seconds.

“Jack broke the meet record and continues to be seeded first in the dash,” said boys head coach Robert Lyons. “I was proud of the team’s effort. I'm happy that we continue to have a number of kids seeded near the top in many events on the state’s performance list. All of these kids can win at the state meet on any given day.”

Jardine, a junior, placed first in the 400-meter run with a time of 50.29 seconds. He placed second in the 200-meter dash behind Pawlik and ran legs in the 4x100-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay teams.
