Betty E. (Rose) Jerome, 91, of Tiverton, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at St. Anne's Hospital. She was wife of the late Edward S. Jerome.

Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Winfred and Edith (Cook) Rose, she was a lifelong resident of Tiverton. Prior to retirement, she was a bookkeeper at Newport Naval Base. Mrs. Jerome enjoyed gardening, reading and animals.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen E. Jerome of Tiverton and John A. Jerome of Tiverton; a daughter, Elizabeth Belisle of Fall River; and three grandchildren, Gregory Jerome, Mya Jerome and Ava Jerome.

She was sister of the late Thelma Hart.

Private services are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, MA 02790.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
