Mardi Lynne Russell, 58, of Westport, passed away on April 12, 2021, surrounded her children, Robert (Allyssa and Robby), Molly, Austin, Christina, and Levi offering her love and prayers, words of gratitude, comfort and peace. She was grateful for their steadfast caring presence and assistance.

Mardi was served by family and friends, and medical and pastoral professionals from the Southcoast VNA Hospice throughout her illness.

Mardi was born to the late Martin W. Hopkinson and Betty P. (Moriarty) Hopkinson on July 17,1962, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the youngest of three children; the late Luanne (Robidoux) and Linda (Gustafson).

She attended Prout Memorial High School, Wakefield, and Westport High School. Mardi is a graduate of Newport School of Hairdressing in Bristol, RI, and Bristol Community College in Fall River, earning an Associate degree in Theatre Arts.

Mardi owned Heads up Hair Design of Westport for 20 years and was an indefatigable, outstanding, and highly experienced hairstylist. She also was employed at her family’s restaurants: Abraham Manchester’s and The Barn Restaurant in Little Compton making friends easily, striking up a conversation with everyone she encountered.

She had an eclectic group of friends and embraced young and old with her heart on her sleeve. Mardi had a strong will, deep faith, and determination to live. Her greatest blessings were to be with her family, travel, cook and soak up the sun. Mardi was proud and charmed by each of her children, not just for their accomplishments, but for whom they are becoming and the lives they are building. Her family and friends are blessed by her memory, as they were by her presence, positive spirit and guiding light.

.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made online to Women of Faith The family will hold a Celebration of Life in remembrance of Mardi outside at Westport Rivers Vineyard & Winery, 417 Hixbridge Rd, Westport, on Sunday, April 18, from 1 to 2:30 pm. Please dress jeans casual and wear your mask.
