PORTSMOUTH — Portsmouth High boys’ and girls’ track and field teams reigned supreme during a multi-school meet at home Monday afternoon.

Competing against Tiverton, East Providence, Middletown and Rogers in a non-scoring meet, the Patriots notched the most victories. Here were some of the highlights from the boys’ side:

Colby Fahrney won both the 200 meters (23.8 seconds) and the long jump (21 feet, 2.5 inches), and joined Will McKinnon, Jack Bielawa and Sam Bielawa to take first place in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.9 seconds.

Kaden Kluth also had a good day, winning the 400 (52.1 seconds) and the 3,000 (9.16.3), and joining Harrison Goodfriend, Joe Hook and Jeff Brady for a first-place finish in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:41.

Brady also came in first in the 1,500 meters, clocking a time of 4:27.9.

Alex Davies won two field events: the hammer throw (119 feet, 10 inches), and the shot put (34 feet, 11 inches).

Sam Steen took first in the discus throw, with a best toss of 118 feet, 2 inches. Sam Bielawa won the triple jump with a leap of 41 feet, 1.5 inches.

“Kaden continues to impress us with his versatility and strength. He's really looking forward to matching up in the championship meets with the best in the state,” said Shaun Horgan, the boys’ coach. “Forty-one feet was a breakthrough jump for Sam Bielawa; he's been steadily improving all season. Colby just started running the 200 for us last week. His times have been fast and he would like to continue to improve in that event.”

Mr. Horgan said it’s a pretty well-rounded team. “I'm happy with these first three meets. We should be in a good position next weekend for the Division Championship,” he said.

Girls’ results

The Patriots’ Megan Lehane continued her impressive season by taking first place in three individual events: the 100-meter high hurdles (17 seconds), the long jump (16 feet, 2.25 inches) and triple jump (33 feet, 3.25 inches). In addition, she joined Abbie Armijo, Joie Durham, and Kate Famiglietti to win the 4x100 relay in a time of 52.3 seconds.

Sabrina Leary won both the 800 meters (2:30.7) and the 3,000 (11:18.2), while Erin O’Connell won two throwing events: the hammer (93 feet, 7 inches) and the shot put (30 feet).

Kitty Damon won the 400 (1:02.3), and teamed up with Keira Foster, Katie Yalanis, and Durham to take first place in the 4x400 relay (4:44).

Armijo won the 100 (13.1 seconds), Famiglietti took first in the 200 (28.2 seconds), and Gabby Sparks won the 1,500 (5:47.2).

Maura Dennis tied Katy Serth of Rogers in the pole vault, with both clearing 8 feet.
