Speak up, seniors — Little Compton survey now open

Little Compton officials want to know how the town and local senior service providers can improve the support system for the community’s older residents and provide opportunities for the town’s senior population to remain physically, mentally, and civically engaged.

With the assistance of a consultant, the town has created an Aging in Little Compton Community Assessment Survey, which will be open for responses through xxx. The survey is open to residents age 55 and over and goes live today, Thursday, Sept. 26. While many agree that 55 is not old, the town encourages everyone in the 55+ category to take the survey as the findings will help to shape future programs and policies. The town website, www.littlecomptonri.org, has a link to the survey and additional information on the following survey assistance events:

• Brownell Library offers free refreshments  and survey assistance Friday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 3, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

• The Little Compton Community Center offers a free lunch voucher and survey assistance Tuesday, Octl 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30pm. Note that free lunch vouchers are limited to the first 25 participants; to reserve yours, call 635-2400.

• The Wellness Center, 115 East Main Road, offers free snacks and a survey session Saturday, Oct. 5, from 1 to 4 p.m.

For transportation to or from any of the events, call 401-777-9700 at least 48 hours before the event to schedule a ride. If you would like technical assistance to complete the online survey (access to a computer, help getting onto the survey website, help with typing, etc.) but cannot attend one of the events, the Brownell Library staff are happy to help — call 401-635-8562.
