Posted

The Portsmouth Conservation Commission in partnership with Litter-Free Rhode Island will sponsor an Earth Day Clean-up on Saturday April 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Glen Brown House, Linden Lane, Portsmouth, adjacent to the Gardiner Seveney Sports fields.

All citizens are welcome to come out and clean up the Glen area. Bring your own gloves or we will provide gloves and bags and pickers. Snacks and water will be provided.

Anyone interested in cleaning another part of town such as their own neighborhood, the beach or a park, can come by the Brown House to pick up supplies and let us know where your bags will be placed for pick up. You can also call 401-835-3294 to register a pickup.

The PCC will be holding an environmental art contest with the theme Celebrate our Clean Portsmouth. Citizens of any age are welcome to participate. Be creative and show how you can keep our town clean. Entries can be in the form of a sculpture, poster, drawing, or students can develop their own project that will help clean our environment. Prizes will be awarded by 3 different age categories. Deadline will be on April 26th by 1pm at the Brown House. All entries will be displayed at the Portsmouth library at a future date.

All Portsmouth citizens are encouraged to go to Litterfree.RI.gov to take the Litter-Free RI pledge. For more information call 401-835-3294.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
