HGTV ‘Dream Home’ in Portsmouth fetches $2.75 million

Texas man won home in April, but decided not to keep it

PORTSMOUTH — Jeff Yanes never even got to walk through the “Dream House” on Vanderbilt Lane that he won in April.

Like many winners of HGTV Dream Home’s contest, he decided to sell his prize and stay put — in his case, in Austin, Texas. (In addition to the home, which was fully furnished, Mr. Yanes also won $250,000 in cash from Rocket Mortgage and a 2021 motorhome from Camping World. The grand prize package was valued at $2.8 million.)

Now the home at 470 Vanderbilt Lane has a new owner, as Tracie Hall, real estate agent with Keller Williams Coastal, sold the property recently for $2,751,000 to WJDJG LLC.

Built by JPS Construction and Design, the 3,300-square-foot, four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home is nestled amidst a peaceful cul-de-sac community near the Sakonnet River. It includes a rooftop deck with a built-in wet bar, a custom outdoor kitchen, a backyard putting green, a basement game room with a lounge area and so much more.

The home's noted interior designer, Brian Patrick Flynn, describes it as “full of modern nautical design and rich colors that honor Newport's coastal New England charm, such as deep reds and blues, with neutral tones and pops of pattern.”

The open floor plan allows for an easy flow between the living room and the dining room, located off of the chef's kitchen that includes a large island, state of the art appliances and lots of storage.

The upstairs is home to four bedrooms, including the main bedroom, which includes a walk-in closet and bathroom en-suite. Up one more flight of stairs is the rooftop deck, with a wet bar and spectacular water views that cannot be rivaled.
