To the editor:
Now that the results have been certified for the recent Portsmouth Water and Fire District’s election, I would like to thank all of you who took the time to vote for me.
When it became apparent that a surreptitious write-in campaign was underway, many of you without prompting went on the offensive. Your unsolicited support was successful beyond expectations. It appears that in two hours you turned out approximately 70 additional votes. That has to be a record and affirms that many people believe that my last 30 years of effort at the water district have been what you want.
To my antagonist (McDaid/Hard Deadlines), apparently my environmental credentials are not pure enough or as they say politically correct. I welcome them to review my voting record at the water district. Please review the minutes of the District’s meetings to confirm this. Or perhaps it is my position on sewers. If we had drunk the DEM Kool-Aid, the residents of Island Park would be faced with an additional cost of living of $10,000 per year and the waters were and are clean enough for swimming!
I am a committed advocate of the environment but that does not mean that I wallow at the DEM, DOH and EPA trough of fallacy, fable and fantasy and a blatant lack of critical thinking.
