PORTSMOUTH — A 26-year-old Cranston man was arrested Monday, July 12, after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman on a RIPTA bus.
At about 1:55 p.m., Portsmouth Police responded to the area of Bristol Ferry Road and Botelho Drive after a female passenger told the bus driver she had been sexually assaulted while riding on the bus, police said.
Officers arrived on scene and identified the suspect as Nathaniel Parrott, a registered Level 3 sex offender who lives in Cranston.
Mr. Parrott was on probation after being released from the Adult Correctional Institutions in June of 2021, police said. According to police, Mr. Parrott had been seated behind the female victim during the ride, and reached forward multiple times to grope her.
Mr. Parrott was charged with second-degree sexual assault and held pending his arraignment Tuesday at 2nd District Court in Newport, police said.
