PORTSMOUTH — A 43-year-old Tiverton resident was arrested at his home around 6:40 a.m. on Friday, April 2, by members of the Rhode Island State Police and U.S. Marshals Service on an arrest warrant issued by the Portsmouth Police Department’s Detective Division.
The warrant for Tommy Walaski, of 303 State Ave. Apt. 3, was obtained after an investigation was conducted into Mr. Walaski’s alleged altering of a check and stealing funds from the account of a Portsmouth resident, according to police.
He was charged with larceny of more than $1,500.

Saturday, April 3
Troy M. LaFrance, 36, of 19 Vervena St., Cranston, was charged with the manufacture and possession of a controlled substance. Mr. LaFrance was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for speeding and committing a roadway violation on Route 24 North at Cedar Island around 9:30 p.m. As the vehicle stopped, Mr. LaFrance was seen making a furtive movement in an attempt to conceal a possible weapon, according to police. During a search for a weapon, police discovered a large quantity of suspected cocaine under the passenger seat and about $832 in Mr. LaFrance’s possession, police said.
Tuesday, April 6
Kyle J. Lewis, 31, of 9 Tilley Ave., Apt. 3, Newport, was charged with driving while intoxicated (second offense) after being pulled over on West Main Road at the Middletown line around 12:35 a.m. for a moving violation on multiple equipment violations. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, according to police.
