Portsmouth athletes compete in state indoor track meet

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High boys’ indoor track and field team finished eighth overall with 14 points during Saturday’s state championship meet at Providence Career & Technical Academy.

The girls’ team, meanwhile, finished 22nd overall with six points.

Aidan Chen was the top individual performer for the Patriots, coming in second place in the boys’ high jump with a best effort of 6 feet, 4 inches.

Sean Gray took third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:45.14. Chris Vachon came in 14th with a time of 9:33.55.

Among the girls, Allie Kaull finished third in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:51.61, gathering all six points for her team. She also finished 11th place in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:12.39.

The girls’ 4x800-meter relay team of Kyra Siebens, Eleni Drosinos, Kaull, and Reilly Porado finished 12th in a time of 11:00.76.

Porado also finished 16th in the 1,000-meter run, with a time of 3:18.79. Sonia Staroscik finished 20th in the 300-meter dash, clocking a time of 45.42 seconds.
