PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School boys’ hockey team advanced to the Division II semifinals with a series win over Narragansett Monday night.

The Patriots shut out Narragansett, 3-0, to win the best-of-three series, 2-1.

Portsmouth, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, defeated the No. 6-seeded Mariners in the opening game, 5-1, only to lose the second game in overtime, 3-2. 

The Patriots will face the No. 2 seed, St. Raphael Academy, in a semifinal series starting Wednesday, March 5, at Schneider Arena at Providence College. The puck drops at 5:30 p.m.

The Patriots come into the match with a 16-6 record, while the Saints are at 15-4-1.

The last time the two teams played was on Jan. 25, when Portsmouth won at home, 5-3.
