NEWPORT — The Portsmouth High School varsity football team made easy work of Rogers during a pre-season Injury Fund game Friday night, winning 35-6.

The game was originally scheduled to be played at PHS, but damage to the turf field due to heavy rains forced a move to Toppa Field.

The Patriots led at the half, 21-0, and never looked back.

Portsmouth is scheduled to host Somerset Berkley Regional in a non-league game at home at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10.

After that, the team will face South Kingstown at Curtis Corner Middle School at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17.
