PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams continued their impressive season during a home meet on Tuesday afternoon.

Both teams squared off against Wheeler School and St. Patrick Academy, while the girls also competed against St. Mary Academy Bay View.

Shaun Horgan, the boys’ coach, had a couple of students — namely Kaden Kluth and John Maedke — sit the meet out in order to get in more training before the Division Championships on Sunday.

Here are the winners among the boys:

• 3,000 meters: Joe Hook — 9:51.6

• 100: Colby Fahrney — 11.5

• 4x100: Fahrney, Sam Bielawa, Jack Bielawa, Will McKinnon — 46.5

• 200: Fahrney — 23.9

• 4x400: Sam Bielawa, Jack Bielawa, Harrison Goodfriend, Jeff Brady —  3:44.1

• Long jump: Fahrney — 21 feet

• Triple jump: Sam Bielawa — 41 feet

• Shot put: Sam Steen — 36 feet, 11.5 inches

• Javelin: McKinnon — 88 feet, 1 inch

• Discus: Steen — 110 feet, 4.5 inches

“I was pleased to see Sam Steen throw a two-foot personal best in the shot put,” said Mr. Horgan. “I can't say enough about Sam Bielawa; he's a tough competitor, very athletic, and a model of good sportsmanship. He was the leadoff leg on our 4x4 and was ready to race even though that's not typically his event. His leadership and enthusiasm has been a huge boost to our team this year.”
