PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department:
Tuesday, Feb. 18
Eric Stewart, 39, of 3299 East Main Road C, was arrested on numerous charges after officers responded to his home shortly after midnight after getting a report of a domestic verbal argument between a man and a woman. When they arrived, officers observed that Stewart had damaged the living room during the argument and that a steak knife was protruding from his rear, right pocket, according to police. He was placed in custody and brought back to the police station. While there, Stewart clogged the booking cell toilets and destroyed the sprinkler system in that area, causing massive flooding, police said. He was charged with the following: domestic disorderly conduct; vandalism/malicious injury to property; possession of an illegal weapon other than firearms; and interference with fire alarm apparatus. Stewart was held at the police station overnight and transported to court in the morning.
Wednesday, Feb. 19
Jose Euceda Maldonado, 37, of 2788 East Main Road, was charged with receiving stolen goods after his vehicle was pulled over on East Main Road at about 1 p.m. Officers determined the vehicle’s registration plates had been stolen from Norwalk, Conn., according to police. He was booked and transported to 2nd District Court in Newport for his arraignment, police said.
Sunday, Feb. 23
Miles M. Wright, 29, of 48 Van Winkle St., Apt. 48, Boston, was charged with driving under the influence, first offense, after being pulled over around 2:25 a.m. on Route 24 North at Cedar Island for multiple traffic violations, police said. Wright was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.
